Crazy Love - Chapter 3

Crazy Love – Chapter 3

1)    Chan says that; “For years I “got” God’s love in my head…but didn’t fully understand it in my heart.” Is your love for God more intellectual or more emotional?

2)    Was there a particular event in your life when you finally “got” God’s love for you on an emotional level?  Describe the experience.

3)    Chan’s concept and understanding of God was largely shaped by his relationship with his father. (Pg 54-55) Has any relationship molded or influenced your relationship with God? How?

4)    Make yourself 2 lists. The first is a list of how God has demonstrated His love for you personally. On the second list, write out the things that you have done - or do - to show your love for God.

5)    When you think about the things you do to demonstrate your love for God, what is your motivation for doing these things? Is it truly simply out of love for God, or is it feelings of duty, guilt or a sense of owing it to God?

6)    Read Psalm 139: 13-14. Do you ever question God’s handiwork or ask why he made you as you are? What things in life lead you to question God’s love for you?

7)    Read Matthew 22: 36-40. How hard is it for you to live out these 2 commandments? What are your biggest struggles when trying to live these out?

8)    Whom do you love so much that you would be devastated without them? Is God that essential to you? Do you rely on Him for everything? Would   you be devastated without Him? What would your life be like without God? Would others notice a difference in you?

9)    Put yourself in the place of Job. If you lost everything near and dear to you, all possessions and people would you still love God?

10)  What role do others play in reminding you of God’s love for you?

11)  How did this chapter impact you? Did it challenge you in any way?
